Puglets

I do want good, forever homes for my little Puglets and consider all prospective owners carefully. There are too many adult Pugs for sale as people just don't realise what a long-term commitment a dog is, therefore I have put together some points below to help buyers consider if getting a puppy is the right decision for them.
Making the decision
Dogs cost £400-£500 per year to keep whilst they are in good health. This includes insurance, food, frontline, wormers and annual booster vaccines. On top of this and the cost of the puglet, you will also probably spend at least another £100 on the 2nd vaccine, crate/enclosure, microchip, bedding etc within the first month.
You need to spend a lot of time with your new puppy to get there training on track, the more time and effort you put in to start with the easy and quicker your dog will be trained.
Getting a puppy is a huge commitment and responsibility, Pugs live for up to around 15 years old so any plans you have, need to consider this carefully. How will your lifestyle change in the next 15 years? For example, will you need to work full time? Obviously you can't plan for everything, but you should be aware that caring for a dog will impact on most of your future decisions. A friend of ours who has 2 children, recently got a puppy and exclaimed that she couldn't believe what an impact it had on their lives, she said it was like having another baby!
You need to consider how much time you have to spend with a dog, not just whilst they're a puppy. You need to spend long periods of time with your Pug, whether that's at home or not. Pugs love a good walk but are not suitable as a running/jogging companion. They do love being out and about but they are not "handbag" dogs; they weigh 6-8kgs which is really too heavy to carry very far, they are far too friendly and inquisitive to sit still in a bag, so if you have a busy social life and plan to take the dog with you, are the places you go suitable for a dog that won't sit still?
